The race for the keep is a first time event venue for he NICA race and is one of the best so far! Lots of fun flowy old school mountain bike trails with some punchy ups and downs and tricky features. The trails provided with plenty of room to pass while still feeling very woodsy. The woods were also home to the "keep", who is believed to create and leave works of art in the woods.
The weekend was hot once again. Even though the sky looked like it was going to open up and pour on us all day, we were lucky enough to remain dry!
Several riders were able to enjoy all 3 R's in R-cubed - Running, riding and racing! While the trails were fun, the rocky nature of the trails did lead to several mechanicals and flat tires for the team.
Senior Captain Fiona Taylor earned her leader jersey this race. She stopped her race to help another girl in her race who was injured, stayed with her and helped her remain calm until the EMTs were able to arrive and assist. Fiona embodies the true spirit of a great athlete, we are very proud of her!
R-Cubed had 34 racers for the weekend with 12 podium Finishes.
The team also continues to hold the 4th place Team overall place!
