The team traveled south to Walnut Mountain Bike park in Liberty, NY for the first race of the season.  It was a cold one, with temperatures in the high 40s with wind and clouds making it feel much colder. 24 R-Cubed athletes raced; 17 High schoolers and 7 Middle Schoolers. The course was a good mix of hills and flow with some really muddy/wet spots, but overall a fast 3 or 3.5 mile loop.

The MIddle School Girls started off the Day at 9:30am.  Mackenzie led the 8th grade girls race from the start and earned  her first leader jersey, winning by almost 5 minutes! Annie also had a great race despite dropping her chain several times, and still managed to finish 2nd in the 7th grade girls race.

The second race of the day, High School Girls, went off at 10:00am. R-Cubed dominated the podium in the large Varsity girls race  Erin, Amber finished  1st & 2nd, respectively, and Kat took 5th in her first Varsity Race.

Avery and Lily were off next in the JV Girls Race. Avery pushed hard for a 4th place finish and Lily despite having a mechanical issue and a time penalty to get it fixed,  finished in 8th.

Kiera rounded out the High school Girls races in the Freshman Girls race, in an exciting spring finish for 2nd!

Reed kicked off the Middle school Boys race wave, finishing 13th in the 8th Grade boys race.  Wyatt finished 11th in the 7th grade boys race in his first NICA race.

Gabe, Chase and Evan finally got to race in their first NICA competition.  Gabe had a great start and won the 6th grade Boys Race. Chase finished in 10th and Evan Finished in 14th to round our the middle school Boys races.

The final race block of the day was High School Boys. John, Jasper, Charles and Owen all raced together, swapping positions throughout the race and finished consecutively in 8th-11th positions.

Logan was our lone JV rider this race finishing in 14th. The Sophomore Boys race also had one R-Cubed Rider, Brayden, who also finished in 14th.  The last race of the day had 5 R-Cubed Riders in the mix.  RIley finished on the podium in 3rd , and  Jonathan & Cooper finished 10th and 11th respectively.  Tanner finished close behind in 15th and Noah completed his first race in 23rd.

After all the points were tallied, R-Cubed came out on top!  Congrats on a fun and successful day.  From first races to personal bests, everyone had a great time.
