Team Win at Walnut Mountain

R-Cubed Pulled off the first TEAM WIN of the season at Walnut Mountain today!  

 

The week the rain held off and the course dried up nicely to allow for the original course with only a couple puddles toowards the end.  The course was very simiar to the course last year, switchbacking up the old ski mountain and then a fun descent back down to the finish!

 

First up was the middle School Girls race with Anne and Mackenzie racing in in the 6th and 7th grade races. Anne pulled off another second place finish and Mackenzie finished on the podium in 5th place! 

 

Erin and Amber started off the high school Girls blockl in the Varsity race. Erin made it look easy , winning the race by anout 15 minutes, while Amber toughed it out racing while sick and finished in 4th.R-Cubed had 5 girls racing in the JV girls race with Kat, Raquelle, and Emma finishing on the Poduim, and Lilly and Trinity  finishing up strong.  Avery Won the Sophomore Girls race for her first NICA race win! Kiera Also finished on the podium with a 4th place finish in the Freshman Girls race. 

 

It warmed up significantly for the Middle school boys race as all 6 athletes prepared for the afternoon race. The 8th Grade boys started off the first afternoon session. Aiden and Jonathan finished back to back on the podium in 2nd and 3rd, followed by Tanner in 7th and Cameron in 13th.    Reed and Peter competed in the 7th grade boys race, finished in 5th and 9th place. 

 

Varsity boys started off the last racing block of the day.   Jasper just missed the podium, finishing in 6th place, followed by Silas in 11th and Owen who had a mechanical in 12th. In the JV Boys race, Charles raced hard to a  5th place finished followed by Michael in 9th, Alex in 11th and Eben in 14th. Both Ethan and Logan finished in the top 10 in the sophomore boys race with  5th and 10th place finishes.  Last race start of the day was the Freshman Boys.  Riley finished up with a 6th place finish and Brayden finished in 11th place.

 

Everyones' hard work for the day paid off and the R-Cubed Team  finished in FIRST PLACE out of all 18 teams for the day.  Fantastic job everyone, it was a great team effort!
